30-yr-old hangs self to death

A 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan here on Thursday.

The deceased, Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Shahimajra in SAS Nagar, was living in a rented house and worked at Vodafone call centre. According to reports, Kumar, hailing from Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, was staying with his friend in Shahimajra.

Police said Kumar’s roommate told them that when he returned from his job on Thursday, he was shocked to find his friend hanging from the ceiling fan. He then took his body to civil hospital at Phase 6, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said no suicide note was found from the spot and after checking his phone calls it came to fore that he was in touch with his female friend, who worked with him at the same company. After questioning his female friend, it was found that the deceased was in depression due to which he had taken the extreme step.

Police said they had informed the family of the deceased about the incident and the body had been kept in the mortuary of civil hospital for post-mortem examination.
