4,400 sit for entrance test of BA/Bcom LLB (hons) courses

About 4,400 candidates appeared for the entrance test for admission in BA/BCom LLB (hons) five-year integrated courses in various institutes of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Sunday.

About 4,400 candidates appeared for the entrance test for admission in BA/BCom LLB (hons) five-year integrated courses in various institutes of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Sunday.

The entrance test was conducted for the B.A/B.Com. LL.B (hons) Five Years Integrated Courses at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) at PU Campus, Chandigarh and its Regional Centres at Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana.

Admissions for the BA/BCom LLB (hons) in PU are based on the performance in the entrance test, along with the marks, in the qualifying examination (+2). The qualifying examination (+2) and the entrance test marks each carries 50% weightage.

Apart from reserved seats for foreign nationals/NRIs, there are 120 seats each in BA and BCom LLB (hons) five-year integrated courses at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) on the PU campus.

There are 87 seats of BA LLB (hons) year integrated course at the University Institute of Laws, PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana, while 60 open seats are there in BA LLB (hons) five-year integrated course at UILS, Swami Sarvanand Giri, PU Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur.

Controller of examination, PU, Parvinder Singh said, "Total 91.1% candidates appeared in the entrance test and a total of 17 centres were set up in Chandigarh to conduct the examination. About 600 staff worked to make this exam a success."
