4 held for murdering Sector 41 resident

A day after a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death at the light point of Sectors 38 and 40, the police have arrested four accused and have put enmity as the motive.

The accused have been identified as Narinder alias Max (19), a resident of Sector 25, who is pursuing diploma in mechanical engineering; Ajay Kumar (24), a dance trainer, his brother Ankush (22), residents of Burail, and a minor.

The police claim old enmity over a girl had flared up in recent times after the victim Jasvir Singh Rana, alias Manohar, a resident of Sector 41, entered into a brawl with the accused around a month ago.

Since then the accused had been looking for an opportunity to get even, the police claimed.

The victim and the accused were all former students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23.

Sector 39 station house officer Gurmukh Singh said the four accused, on a scooter, followed the victim, who was on a scooter, and the moment his scooter stopped at the light point, the accused stabbed Jasvir with a sharp-edged weapon and sped away.

The police were informed by Jaiveer, the victim’s brother.

The accused were rushed to Sector-16 Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

The police said during the course of investigation the blood-stained clothes of accused Narinder and the Activa used in the crime had been recovered from them.
