Punjab jail, tourism and cultural affairs minister Sohan Singh Thandal on Monday said that a Guru Ravidas Memorial worth Rs 100 crore would be developed in 15 acres of land at Khuralgarh village near Garhshankar, falling in district Hoshiarpur. Besides this, he said four new jails were also being constructed in the state.
The minister said that the initial preparations in this regards had been commenced.
Apart from that, a war memorial is also being developed by the state government at Kartar Town near Jalandhar, which will be a tribute to the heroes of independence who fought and sacrificed their life for the nation.
Explaining about the remodelling of jails in the state, he said that four new jails were being constructed in the state and around 40% of the work had been completed.
"Besides this, training of professional courses is also being provided to prisoners so that they could live their livelihood after completing their term,"he said.
