Five policemen were arrested on Thursday for raping a 17-year-old school girl.
Police have booked all accused - Jagtar Singh, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Himmat Singh and Anil Kumar - for rape, wrongful restraint and use of criminal force with intent to outrage a woman's modesty.
In her complaint, the girl alleged that the constables had raped her for more than two months and threatened to kill her parents if she reported the matter to the police.
The girl's cousin, who accompanied her to the police station, where she lodged a complaint, said it all started about some months back, when one of the constables came to their village to settle a brawl between the girl's father and her uncle.
The victim alleged that soon after, Akshay and Sunil started following her. "They both forced me into a police gypsy and raped me. When I tried to resist they pointed a gun at me and raped me repeatedly. They also forced me to have contraceptive pills," she said.
After a while the other three colleagues also joined in. "I was so scared of them that whenever I would see a PCR gypsy around my house or school, I would hide."
Finally, fed up of being exploited the girl confessed to a neighbour, who then convinced her to report the matter to the police.
The UT IGP RP Upadhyaya said, "It is a serious crime. Strict action legal and departmental would be taken. We have suspended the cops with immediate effect."
