Less than two weeks after four-year-old girl Mahi's death in a borewell, a five-year-old boy lost his life after he fell into a sewer on Thursday night. The boy, Sumit, fell into a sewer of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Sector 7, Manesar.

Locals informed the police, and the boy was taken out of the drain after around one-and-a-half hours. He was rushed to ESI Hospital, Sector 3, Manesar, where the doctor declared him brought dead.

Haryana chief secretary PK Chaudhary has ordered an inquiry into the incident. "Those responsible for such negligence will be taken to task," he said.

The police said Sumit fell into the sewer around 8.30 pm and was brought out around 9.50 pm.
Meanwhile, residents held a protest against the authorities for not covering open sewers in the area. A 17-year-old youth had also fallen into a sewer, but he managed to come out.
