The estimated number of people with HIV/AIDS in Punjab is 56,928, with adult HIV prevalence of 0.32% against the national figure of 0.31%.

Stating this here on Thursday, health minister Madan Mohan Mittal said the state had started an integrated campaign for achieving the goal of "Getting to zero zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths" by 2015.

The Punjab State AIDS Control Society has released grants to all districts to observe World AIDS Day on December 1, the minister said.
