6 held for beating up Punjabi singer

The SAS Nagar police on Thursday arrested six persons for allegedly beating up Punjabi singer Subhash Sharma, alias Babu Chandigarhia, during a marriage function on the premises of PCA Stadium in SAS Nagar on December 10.

The SAS Nagar police on Thursday arrested six persons for allegedly beating up Punjabi singer Subhash Sharma, alias Babu Chandigarhia, during a marriage function on the premises of PCA Stadium in SAS Nagar on December 10.

The arrested include Amanpreet Singh of Sector 50, Chandigarh; Ameek Singh of Phase 8, Industrial Area; Sandeep Singh of Sector 71, SAS Nagar; Gurmeet Singh of Sector 122, SAS Nagar; Gurpreet Singh of Sector 70 and Amrit Pal of Sector 71.

Speaking to HT, SSP SAS Nagar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said all six accused have been arrested. The arrests have been made after watching the video footage of the wedding party and the victim identified the accused. Besides, there is no political connection to the incident, he added.
The singer was thrashed as he refused to oblige a group of people, who asked him to sing at the marriage party.

The police have registered a case under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) against them. They will be produced in the court on Friday.
