63 officials found absent during surprise check in Rupnagar

Nearly 63 officers and employees of various government departments were found absent from duty during a surprise check by senior officers of the district administration on Thursday.

Nearly 63 officers and employees of various government departments were found absent from duty during a surprise check by senior officers of the district administration on Thursday.

The checking was conducted under instructions from deputy commissioner Tanu Kashyap. Additional deputy commissioner (development) Amarjit Singh Shahi and district revenue officer Atam Singh conducted the inspection in the morning after 9 am, during which 40 officers and employees were found absent.

In Rupnagar, four officers and employees were found absent from duty at the offices of municipal council, district welfare officer, Bankfico , improvement trust, divisional forest officer, water supply and sanitation, where Shahi conducted the inspection.Thirty seven of ficers and employees were found absent from duty at the district administrative complex offices, where Singh conducted the inspection.

Similarly, Anandpur Sahib sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Amarjit Singh Bains conducted a surprise check at the offices in Anandpur Sahib where 16 employees were not present. Chamkaur Sahib SDM Avneet Kaur conducted inspection at offices in Chamkaur Sahib and Morinda, where six employees were found absent.

Bains said notices had been issued to all absentees asking them to explain their absence after which he would write to the deputy commissioner regarding further action.
