63-year-old nurse dies in hit-and-run accident

A nurse died in a hit-and-run accident on the dividing road of Sector 7/8, here on Wednesday.

Vimla Saini, the 63-year-old victim, died on the spot.The incident happened when Saini was on her way to her home in Nayagaon from work on her Activa scooter and an unknown car hit her on the dividing road of Sector 7/8. While she fell down and succumbed to head injuries, the car driver fled from the spot.

She was brought to her workplace, General Hospital, Sector 6, where she was declared brought dead.

"She had retired from the hospital and was employed at contract basis as a Yashoda supervisor. We are investigating the case. She was hit by a red car. After conducting her post mortem, her body will be handed over to family members,"informed assistant sub-inspector Baldev Singh, in-charge of Sector-7 police post.

Saini is survived by a husband and two sons, said Singh.
