The Punjab government has de-listed 783 hectares of land, which was covered under forest area, for agriculture. This chunk of land was spread across 11 villages of Talwara block in Hoshiarpur district, a spokesman said here.

This land was earlier notified under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1990, prohibiting cultivation/habitation on this land.

These areas are Narangpur (75.28 hectares), Gag Jallo (10.10 hectares), Labhar (97.41 hectares), Jharere (120.81 hectares), Bhavnaur (259.91 hectares), Barian (16.52 hectares), Ado Chak (40.98 hectares), Bhatoli (31.77 hectares), Ajmer (7.93 hectares), Bisso Chak (14.98 hectares) and Dharampur (107.64 hectares).

This land would now be available to owners only for agriculture, the spokesman said.
