Eight pilgrims were killed and 42 other injured when a private bus they were travelling in rolled down a gorge near Kangra town of Himachal Pradesh on late Saturday evening.
Most of the deceased are from Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh. The pilgrims had returned from Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir and were on a visit to prominent Hindu shrines of Himachal Pradesh.
According to Kangra Police the pilgrims were travelling from Chamunda Devi temple to Jawalaji Temple.
"The Bus rolled down into a 250 metre deep gorge on the outskirts of Kangra town. The incident took place around 10PM on Saturday," said the police.
Six men and two women were killed. The injured were rushed to the Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital in Tanda.
