Wheat procurement in Punjab has reached 91.73 lakh tonnes in the ongoing season with 99% purchase done by government agencies.
Out of total procurement, government agencies procured 91.70 lakh tonne, whereas private traders procured just 1,431 tonnes, an official spokesperson said.
FCI has procured 13.58 lakh tonnes which is 14.8% of the total lifting.
The spokesman said Sangrur district was leading in procurement operations with the arrival of 10.61 lakh tonne, followed by Patiala at 9.75 lakh tonnes.
Punjab has set a target to procure 115 lakh tonnes in the current season.
