95% get jobs in PEC University of Technology

PEC University of Technology has witnessed an upward trend in number of students placed and average salary packages offered to them in comparison to placements last year.

Of 316 eligible students from nine different streams, as many as 301 have been placed till November 30. In the corresponding period last year, a total of 214 students were placed, out of 308 eligible students. As per norms, only the students with minimum 6.5 calculating cumulative grade point average (CGPA) are considered for campus placements.

However, highest package has come down this year. Last year, highest package was recorded at Rs 16.8 lakh per annum in computer science engineering (CSE), which has come down to Rs 16 lakh per annum this year.

Apart from CSE, the highest salary packages have gone up in all other streams. In electrical engineering, the highest package was Rs 6 lakh per annum last year, which has gone up to Rs 13.9 lakh. In electronic engineering, the highest salary packed bagged by a student is recorded at Rs 14 lakh per annum this year, which was Rs 11.22 lakh last year. Similarly, in information technology, the highest pay package has witnessed a jump from Rs 14.9 lakh per annum last year to Rs 16 lakh per annum this year.

Companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, American Express, DE Shaw, McKinsey, JPMorgan, Amazon and Hike participated in the recruitment process.

Training and placement officer Dr Umesh Sharma said, more than 80 companies have visited the campus since mid-August.

“We have a company on our campus daily. In the current semester as many as 27 students have got pre-placement offers from companies they interned. This is highest in the university’s history.”

Sharma said the improved placement record was a result of a placement policy, which has been formulated by university director Manoj Arora, who has experience of handling recruitments in IIT Roorke. “Director personally monitors training and placement cell of the university,” said Sharma.

Besides, the university had 35 companies recruiting students as interns with the maximum stipend of Rs 40,000 per month. A total of 139 students had an on-campus training arranged for them.
