Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, on Thursday, dubbed the planned dharna of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) at the border and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) earlier announcement of holding anti-drug rallies mere drama to divert people’s attention from the real issue of drug mafia thriving on the patronization of bigwigs of both the ruling parties in Punjab.

“The SAD threat to march to three border posts on the drug issue is a drama to fool Punjabis as the party has sleepless nights since the people gave 25% votes to AAP in the recent elections,” Chhotepur said.

In addition to the appearance of revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the drug racket probe, the ruling SAD-BJP alliance has sensed problems in the coming municipal and impending assembly elections in Punjab, Chhotepur said.

“The BJP, which has been talking of rallies against drug menace, has actually played the role of a villain by silently siding with the SAD to rule the state for the past eight years,” he added.
