An Aam Adami Party (AAP) party worker was attacked by the group of youths at Sector 68 in SAS Nagar on Saturday. The victim, identified as, Baljit Singh Kumbada, along with another person, was returning to his village in the morning when his car was hit by an SUV in which five youths were seated with their faces covered.

After hitting Baljit’s car, three persons had come out from the SUV holding rods and baseball bats in their hands, said the victim.

Baljit added: “We fled from the spot and the SUV followed us till we reached gurdwara and informed to the police.”

Baljit was also attacked by a group of persons on May 8 and a case was registered then. The victim confirmed that the same persons had attacked on Saturday.

Following the incident, the AAP workers, led by Himmat Singh Shergill, staged a protest outside the office of senior superintendent of police at Phase 1 in SAS Nagar, and demanded quick action against the accused.

SAS Nagar SSP Gursharan Singh Sandhu said, “Whenever the victim feels insecure while going outside, he can approach us and we will provide him the required security.”
