Aam Aadmi Party leaders sat on an indefinite 'dharna' today to protest the opening of two liquor shops in Surya Nagar area here despite objection raised by women residents against such establishments.

The women from Surya Nagar and its surrounding areas also took part in the dharna.

Yogendra Yadav, party's Haryana affairs in-charge and member of national executive of AAP, said residents were not in favour of opening liquor shops in the area but administration had "ignored" their protests.

"The liquor vends are illegal and near the school. Women of this area have also been agitating against the vends for past several days," Yadav said, demanding immediate closure of these vends.
