The Haryana vigilance bureau on Thursday caught a subinspector posted as the police post incharge here for accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.

The suspect, Jaikishan Malik was to retire in six months.

As per details, Vinod Khatri, a resident of the new housing board colony here registered a complaint with the bureau that Malik had been harassing him with the demand for Rs 10,000 in lieu of not registering a case against him.

On August 8, dispute erupted outside Khatri's shop in which he was also involved. The subinspector asked Khatri to grease his palm else he would book him in a false case.

A trap was laid by a team led by inspector Anil Kumar and caught the suspect in possession of money. The subinspector has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced in a court on Friday.
