A new state-of-the-art CT scanner has been installed at the department of radiodiagnosis and Imaging at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), here on Tuesday.
It is a super fast 256 multi-slice scanner and is the first of its kind in North India, according to a PGIMER press release. The entire body can be imaged in as short as 12 seconds, said the release.
Radiodiagnosis head N Khandelwal said the i-dose protocol of the machine will help reduce unwanted radiation exposure to the patients during the CT examination by delivering X-rays at different levels of the body according to the patient's body size and habitus.
This multislice scanner will be a boon for patient care in the region due to its fast acquisition time and various attributes and will significantly reduce waiting list of patients, he added.
