After assurance, blinds' federation postpones agitation

The National Federation of the Blinds (NFB) on Wednesday announced to postpone its ongoing agitation.


In a statement issued by the NFB, Punjab, it was stated that the federation had postponed its agitation till May 1 as they association was given assurance by Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, special principal secretary to the Punjab chief minister.

General secretary of the association Ram Murti said Singh, who was also the director of social security department, promised that he would facilitate a meeting between the Punjab chief minister and the association.

The association said Singh also assured that visually impaired teachers working on temporary posts would be regularised in service.

Earlier in a rally held outside the Directorate of Social Security, Sector 34-A, Chandigarh, various leaders addressed the demonstrator and urged the Punjab government to do the needful without further delay.

Murti said if the government would not honour its commitment the agitation would be resumed again and from May 1 and the visually impaired would march towards Lambi.
