“I f you don’t have the time to exercise, you will have to find time for illness. Remember that prevention is better than cure,” reminds entrepreneur-beauty advisor Vandana Luthra, who continues to look fit and beautiful at the age of 55.
She was at the Ludhiana centre of VLCC recently (Vandana Luthra Curls and Curves) — a beauty management and weight treatment company — where Vandana talked about taking care of one’s body and achieving fitness and wellness.
“Our body is like a gift from god, and if we really love him, we must respect our body. He has also blessed us with a brain to think of ways to keep the body fit.
So, why can’t we figure out a plan to keep away from obesity and other health problems?” questioned Vandana, while stressing on the fact that obesity is leading to increasing cases of health problems as well as heart attacks in both adults and children.
For that matter, obesity among children worries Vandana the most, as children are the future of the country. “What can a country expect from unhealthy youth?” she wonders, adding that perfect peace and happiness comes from both inner and outer beauty rather than just the latter.
The pretty lady also believes in keeping the mind positive, to highlight which she shares a proverb, “‘On this earth, there is nothing great but man, in man there is nothing great but mind’.”
After graduating from Delhi University, Vandana pursued various wellness courses in different European cities including Munich, Paris and London. It was in 1989 that she opened the doors to her first small VLCC centre at Safdarjung, Delhi, with barely three employees.
Today, VLCC paints a grand picture with almost 300 centres in different parts of the world. Adding to her list of achievements is receiving the Padma Shri award by the government of India on January 26 last year.
