Air India would suspend its flight from the Bhunter airport in Kullu from July 22 to August 31. The move may hit the arrival of high-end tourists in the district in the coming days.
Bhunter airport station manager, Sandeep Puri, told HT that due to bad weather conditions the Air India had decided to suspend its flight from the Bhunter airport.
In district Kullu, the high-end tourists mostly prefer to visit the district from flight, because the condition of main national highway via Kiratpur to Manali is in poor condition for a long time.
Kullu, which has already facing the slump in tourism industry, gets another jolt with the decision of the Air India.
Hoteliers' association president Kullu-Manali Anup Thakur told HT that these days the district was getting sharp decline in number of tourists, which has come down by 30%.
Citing no specific reason for the decline of tourists' arrival in Kullu district, he said that generally every year in July to September, tourism industry experienced slump in the district. But the suspension of flights by Air India may affect the tourism sector in Kullu district, he added.
