Ayurveda department with help of district Herbal organisation has taken up a task to help farmers by providing aloe vera plants to make them financialy independent.
A spokesman of the ayurveda department said this new project will bring a change in villages selected by the state government.
Plantation of aloe vera on large scale would bring a change in the lifestyle and economy of the people in the district, where wild animals destroy crops every year. Aloe vera is highly-resistant to the attacks of wild animals and that is why the state government had decided to take up this campaign in five selected villages of Bamsan development block of Hamirpur district.
He added polyhouses would also be provided to the farmers so that they can avail of the benefits of the programme initiated by the department.
Deepak Sharma, state Congress spokesman and a leading herbal grower of the district, said he had also plantated aloe vera on large scale and it paid him good dividends. He appealed the people to plant aloe vera in their fields.
