The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said it was "always ready" for elections but was not trying to destabilise the government.
"The BJP is always ready for elections," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
The party is holding its national executive meet in this tourist complex on the outskirts of the national capital.
Prasad's comment came after party president Nitin Gadkari in his inaugural address said it was difficult for the Congress-led government to complete its tenure.
He clarified later that the comment was only on the current political situation and the party was not trying to destabilise the government.
