Haryana power minister Capt Ajay Yadav on Tuesday said he was not against any leader but the system. He was replying to questions at a media interaction after he submitted his resignation to Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Excerpts from the interaction:
Are you against Hooda?
No, I am not against any leader but am against the system, the way the government is functioning. It is also a fact that Hooda did not pay heed to my requests and anguish of being ignored.
Will your resignation weaken the Congress?
Far from it! If I speak against the wrongs of the government, other party members as well as people would appreciate it that there are leaders in the party who are concerned about their areas. The same thing applies to leaders like Birender Singh and Kumari Selja.
What if you do not get the Congress ticket?
I am not a “pichhlaggu” (blind follower). “Ticket milta hai to theek hai, nahi to ghar baithenge, party ko mazboot banane ka kaam karenge (It is fine if I get ticket, otherwise, I would sit at home and work to strengthen the party.)”
Are you also for a change in leadership in Haryana?
No. Nor is there any point in it or time for it. In three months’ time, we have elections.
Would you lobby for a ticket for your son?
Why should I? He is a youth leader of the state. It is his outlook and he ought to work for it.
Will you reconsider you decision if the party high command asks for it?
Sonia Gandhi is my leader and I will do what she says.
