Amandeep Kaur murder: Charges framed against accused, his cousin

The court of additional district and sessions judge Dilbag Singh Johal on Tuesday framed charges in the murder case of 22-year-old Amandeep Kaur from Ferozepur, who was residing in Phase 5, SAS Nagar.
She was shot dead by Gurmeet Singh alias Gora, also native of Ferozepur and her old acquaintance, on January 12 this year.
The charges were framed under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act against the accused and his cousin Angrez Singh who had provided the weapon to him.
The court has summoned station house officer, Phase 1, Sukhwinder Singh, Kulbir Singh, victim's father, and her friend, Navneet Kaur alias Neetu, her father Nirvar Singh and two other friends, Gagandeep Kaur and Palwinder Kaur, to record their statements on Wednesday.
Amandeep was shot thrice by the accused at the Phase-5 market at around 8pm on January 12 when she was returning to her paying guest (PG) accommodation along with her three friends, Navneet, Gagandeep and Palwinder Kaur. All of them were pursuing a technical course from their native place in Ferozepur.
The victim was stopped by Gurmeet Singh, who knew her, and after talking for a while, he shot at her from a point blank range. Following this, the accused fled from the spot, while onlookers took the victim to a private hospital in Phase 4 from where she was referred to the civil hospital in Phase 6 and was declared brought dead.
