Ambala college girl gang-raped in car

A BA first-year student of Ambala City Government College here was allegedly gang-raped in a car by three men on Monday.

The accused - Surgam, Rahul and Jonny, all resident of Khilan village in bordering Punjab district of Patiala - were arrested on Tuesday. They will be produced in court on Wednesday.

In his complaint, the victim's father, a resident of Tangri Colony, has alleged that one of the accused was known to his daughter and had offered a lift in their car when the victim was waiting for her bus after appearing for an exam in the afternoon.

He alleged that the accused took her to a secluded place near Tangri river near Rampur Majra village and committed the crime. On hearing the victim's shrieks, passersby reached the spot, following which the accused let the victim out of the car and drove away.

Mahesh Nagar police station house officer (SHO) Ramesh Kumar confirmed the news. He said a case under sections 365 (kidnapping) and 376(rape) of the Indian Penal Code had been registered on June 17. The victim's medical examination has confirmed rape.
