All India Congress Committee general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Ambika Soni has indicated that there will be no immediate change in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) leadership.
Talking to mediapersons, Soni said the party’s membership drive was going on and if it was not extended, the organisational elections were likely to be held in April or May after the completion of the drive. She said it would be known at that time whether the present PPCC president would stay or be replaced.
About former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s upcoming Lalkar rally in Amritsar, she said there was nothing wrong in it as a member of Parliament was entitled to holding rallies in his or her constituency.
In reply to a question, Soni said she was not in the race for the post of PPCC president.
When asked about the demand that Priyanka Gandhi should be brought into active politics, Soni said it was up to Priyanka to decide.
About the prospects of the Congress in the Delhi assembly elections, Soni said the party would do better this time.
