Panic spread in Sector 28 here as an amputated human arm was found near a drain on Saturday.

A worker who was cleaning the drain found it and informed the police, who tried hard to trace the body nearby, but found nothing.

"The DNA test will be conducted on Sunday," said inspector Arvind Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Chandimandir police station.

Kumar said, "We searched the area and the hospital nearby to figure out that if any amputation had been undertaken by doctors. The sewerage of the area is also being searched for other body parts. But in vain."

In a separate incident, a man named Kapil, resident of SAS Nagar, was admitted to Alchemist hospital with a bullet injury and a fractured leg.

Kumar said, "We received information from Alchemist Hospital about Kapil. However, he is not in a condition to record his statement."

He added that the firing took place near the Morni T-point, but they did not find any empty shells there.

"We are investigating the case and further action will be taken after recording the victim's statement," inspector Kumar said.
