In a time when you wake up to the news of an upcoming Punjabi movie everyday, when the social media is flooded with posters of this Punjabi flick or that, and (most importantly) when every filmmaker is snaking his way through the media to make headlines — screenplay, script writer and director Dheeraj Rattan decides to keep mum about his second directorial venture; the first being Saadi Love Story.
The silence is finally broken when he wraps up the shoot of the yet-to-be-named Punjabi that features four male actors — Rannvijay, Sharry Mann, Gulzar Chahal and Vinaypal Buttar — in the lead.
In Industrial Area, SAS Nagar, wrapping up the shoot of song Ik Kothi, Ik Car De, Ik Toffee Wargi Naar De, with his actors, the director says, “The movie has four different tracks, for four different stories of these characters. The female actors in the comedy flick include Mandy Takhar, Prabhleen Sandhu, Gunjan Walia and Miss Pooja.
The funny bit is — the ladies have not been paired up with any of the male characters! You’ll also get to see Miss Pooja playing the character of Miss Pooja. As for music, we’ve roped in Nick Dhami, Honey Singh, RDB and Badshah.”
The film also brings to the fore new producers, says Rattan, “Ravi Jain and Karan Bali, who have pharmaceutical and real estate businesses, were eager to enter the industry. My only condition was — do not question me about the cast. I wanted an unconventional cast to play my characters. For instance, I saw a lot of potential in Gulzar, despite his previous projects being jinxed. Similarly, Rannvijay has very interesting work in Mumbai, and Sharry, of course, is a singing sensation.”
Though the shoot has come to an end, the director doesn’t want to rush the release. “Since a lot of Punjabi films are being released everyday, I want to take my own sweet time. I plan to release this one after releasing films that have been written by me. Expect this one around August,” he signs off.
