On ‘Haryana Day’, health minister Anil Vij launched the ‘Swach Ambala Swach Haryana’ campaign from Seva Samiti Chowk on Saturday.
Vij and hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party workers cleaned the roads here and disposed off the garbage.
Vij said participation of residents was essential for the success of the project. He further said the cleanliness drive would not be held only for a week but would be an ongoing process.
The minister said he would realise the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by involving social organisations and the public in the project.
He said even after 68 years of independence, no serious thought was given to cleanliness, which directly affected the common man’s health.
He said with the help of government and private organisations, a comprehensive road map for cleanliness would be prepared and the work would be executed accordingly.
Vij stated that the budget allocation for health services in the state would be increased and that the current expenditure on health was less than that of other states.
He maintained that the Cantt civil hospital and other hospitals in the state would be upgraded and better health care facilities would be provided.
Meanwhile, Ambala city MLA Asseem Goyal started the cleanliness campaign from the civil hospital.
