Despite request for letting him complete his term with Chandigarh administration, Haryana civil services (HCS) officer Rajesh Jogpal (in picture) has been repatriated.
Jogpal joined Chandigarh administration in 2011 and was appointed as Chandigarh Housing Board chief executive officer (CEO). He was later transferred as director social welfare on August 8, 2012. His three-year term was to expire on November 15.
Jogpal was currently holding the charge of director social welfare, managing director, Child and Women Development Corporation; and managing director, SC/BC and Minorities Financial Development Corporation. HCS officer Tilak Raj has been given responsibility of these departments.
Sources said the administration had received a communication from Haryana government with a request to relieve Jogpal before completion of his term, following which Jogpal had submitted a representation to UT adviser and Haryana chief secretary to allow him to complete his term as he was working on important projects such as Nirbhaya Centre, day care centre for senior citizens with disability, disability resource centre and also call centre solution for women and child helpline.
In his representation, Jogpal maintained that he had come to know that Haryana government had requested Chandigarh administration for his repatriation, but no official letter had been sent to him. He further maintained his repatriation would hamper the timely completion of ongoing projects.
Despite repeated attempts, Jogpal was not available for comment.
