Army chief visits Western Command

General Bikram Singh, Chief of Army Staff ( C OA S ) , v i s i t e d We s t e r n Command headquarters, Chandimandir, on July 20 and July 21.

The COAS was received by Lieutenant General Philip Campose, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOCin-C), Western Command. He was briefed on operational aspects pertaining to the command area of responsibility and apprised of the training initiatives being taken to enhance the operational effectiveness, especially with regard to counterterrorist operations.

The COAS, who is retiring at the end of this month, interacted with the veterans residing in the tricity and also with commanders and other officers of the Command.

He also addressed the officers of the Western Command at Manekshaw Auditorium and exhorted them to continue working hard and maintain the highest standards of operational, training and administrative activity.

He highlighted the various initiatives undertaken over the last two years for improving satisfaction levels for serving and retired officers. The COAS paid homage to the martyrs and laid a wreath at the Veer Smriti.

The COAS was accompanied by Army Wives Welfare Association president Bubbles Singh, who interacted with ladies of Chandimandir Station, including the Veer Naris.
