The CBI special magistrate, Haryana, on Thursday issued non-bailable warrants against Panipat rural MLA Om Prakash Jain, Assandh MLA Zile Ram Sharma and Jain's personal assistant Rajinder Sharma for October 3 in an abetment to suicide case of Kambopura ex-sarpanch Karam Singh.
"Earlier, summons were issued to the accused but they did not receive them," Jain's counsel Vishal Garg said, adding that the trio now needed to take bail.
The CBI had, on August 8, filed a chargesheet against former transport minister Jain, former chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Zile Ram Sharma and Rajinder Sharma for abetment to suicide of Karam Singh on June 7, 2011, though the allegations were of murder.
Karam had given around Rs 12.5 lakh to Jain and Zile Ram for the recruitment of three people but they did not return the money when the jobs did not materialise. As per the CBI, Karam committed suicide due to this reason. The chargesheet said both MLAs lied during the polygraph test.
Jain is an independent MLA, while Zile Ram is a Congress legislator. When the allegations surfaced, Jain was the transport minister, while Zile Ram was the CPS and both had to resign.
Jain's anticipatory bail was rejected on August 21.
