ASA protests against Badaun gangrape

Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) held a protest at Panjab University campus on Tuesday evening against the gang rape of two teenage Dalit girls in Badaun of Uttar Pradesh.

Alleging that Uttar Pradesh government had failed at all the fronts to protect its citizen’s basic rights, ASA president.

Gurdeep Singh demanded that the gover nment book the accused under relevant sections of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocity) Act, 1989, and ensure speedy trial. “Dalits should be provided protection ag ainst such victimisation. We also demand president’s rule for UP if the incumbent gover nment fails to guarantee human rights to its citizen,” Singh said.
