The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday questioned maintainability of the petition filed by Puran Singh, ex-driver of Nurmahal-based Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan's spiritual head Mahesh Kumar Jha alias Ashutosh Maharaj, seeking a CBI inquiry into the case and post-mortem of the spiritual head's body kept in a freezer.
The sansthan doctors had declared Ashutosh Maharaj clinically dead on January 29.
When the petition came up for hearing, the court headed by justice MMS Bedi also ordered the petitioner's counsel to address the court on the next date of hearing on March 25 as to under which sections of the code of criminal procedure and the Punjab Police rules he was seeking directions from the court.
When the petitioner's counsel submitted a receipt of the complaint made by the petitioner to the police, the court also observed that till date no FIR had been registered in the case.
The petitioner had submitted that the sansthan management had kept Ashutosh's body in a refrigerator illegally to usurp the sansthan's property worth Rs 1,000 crore and was not allowing anyone to enter the place.
