Inviting the attention of Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to militancy's 35,000 innocent victims, including 26,000 Hindus, the Punjab Congress has asked him if he will force his alliance partner in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), to form a commission to bring justice to the affected families.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Punjab Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta said that during Fateh Rally at Jagraon on Sunday, Modi should push the SAD-led state government to form this commission.

Mehta alleged that SAD president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had never expressed grief over the killing of Hindus in the state. "If he considers self a well-wisher of Hindus in Punjab, he should set up a commission to find out why the militants killed thousands of them in the state," she said.
