An assistant professor of Panjab University has accused the varsity of violating the model code of conduct.

In his letter written to Chandigarh administration and returning officer, assistant professor Neeraj Kumar Sharma has alleged that PU has been 'selectively' holding interviews for some recruitment, even while cancelling certain others citing the model code of conduct.

Sharma has stated that university authorities cancelled interviews for 45 posts to be held between March 11 and March 13, even as letters were issued for holding interviews for the assistant professor post at the philosophy department on March 14.

He has stated that the selective holding of interviews raised questions about the varsity's "intentions", further asking the administration to direct the varsity to postpone the interviews.

When contacted, PU officials said that the recruitment to said posts was being done under the supervision of Punjab and Haryana High court and chief electoral office had also been intimated about the process.
