At native village, Sangram Singh motivates budding wrestlers

Wrestler-turned-actor Sangram Singh, the Haryanvi Jat boy, who shot to limelight last year for his performance in reality TV show 'Big Boss Season-7' visited his native village at Madina on Tuesday where he learned basics of wrestling in childhood.
Sangram (28), who is known by his real name Sanjeet Kumar alias Lala in village, shared his Bollywood experience with the amateur and budding wrestlers who practise the sport in the village 'akhara' like he used to do for making it big in the wrestling arena.
Expressing his concern over the state of affairs of wrestlers in Haryana, which has given scores of international achievers to the country, he said the budding players do their spadework in oblivion sans any sports facilities.
He said no big difference has come to his village 'akhara' in last several decades barring some minor cosmetic changes to nurture talent at the appropriate time. Sangram had practised wrestling till his matriculation before he moved to Delhi after his selection in the Delhi Police.
About his experience in the glamour world, Sangram said before he got recognition wrestlers were misunderstood by people, including top celebrities, in Mumbai but he had proved them wrong by showcasing the real side of grapplers that they are intelligent, smart and virtuous. He said even superstar Salman Khan confessed that he had a stereotype mindset about wrestlers before meeting him.
He urged the youngsters to hone their communication skills, pay equal attention to their education and grooming skills along with their practice session to click in tinsel town.
Sangram also appealed the state government to provide facilities to sportspersons who are working tirelessly everyday to bring laurels for the country in their respective games.
Beside Big Boss that was hosted by Salman Khan, Sangram Singh had appeared in several other reality shows, including 100 percent De Dhana Dhan, Big TOSS, Guinness World Records and Survivor India. He also has association with Bollywood starlet and former Big Boss participant, Payal Rohatgi.
