The district consumer disputes redressal forum, SAS Nagar, has directed a city-based automobile dealer to pay Rs 25,000 as compensation to a resident of Balongi village for deficient services as his vehicle was damaged during first service.

Disposing of a complaint filed by Ved Parkash, the forum found Goel Motors deficient in its services.
The forum, presided over by Madhu P Singh, on Wednesday, held, "The impairment of newness of vehicle due to the negligence on the part of the dealer is an act of deficiency in service which has caused mental agony and harassment to the complainant."

Parkash had moved the forum after his Mahindra Verito was damaged during the first service. He claimed that the Goel Motors had authorised service centre for the cars manufactured by Mahindra and Mahindra Limited.

He further said due to mishandling by the dealer's employees the front portion of the car was completely damaged and he had requested them to replace the car as it was not repairable, which they refused.

Contesting the allegations, Goel Motors said at time of the time of servicing the car it sustained some damage. It, however, denied that the car was mishandled by its employees and the damage was neither deliberate nor intentional. It said the damage was rectified a as per the desire of the complainant.
