Additional sessions judge Bimlesh Tanwar on Monday awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment to an auto driver for raping a married woman.
The court also imposed a fine of `3,000 on Shakti Nagar resident Ajay alias Kala.
The prosecution said Ajay entered the victim’s house on October 28, 2013 while she was alone and taking bath, adding that he barged into the bathroom and forcibly took her to the bedroom where he raped her.
It submitted that after freeing herself, the victim raised an alarm, following which neighbours gathered on the spot, while Ajay made good his escape.
Prosecution said the victim’s husband lodged a complaint with police who arrested Ajay and procured his police remand. Later, forensic and DNA tests established his crime.
9 jailed for assaulting, kidnapping man
Chandigarh: Additional district and session judge, Paramjeet Singh, on Tuesday awarded three-year jail to nine residents of Dadumajra for kidnapping and demolishing a hutment over a landlord-tenant dispute.
The convicts, Sandeep alias Soni, Maninder Singh, Ajay alias Rikki, Tapan Singh, Mohan Rana alias Billa, Shubham, Bunty, Vikram and Madan Lal, have been also directed to pay a fine of `2,500 each.
However, the court acquitted Balbir and Jasbir, as prosecution failed to prove allegations against them.
UT police had booked 11 persons on October 28, 2011, on complaint of one Ankush staying on rent in Dadumajra.
Prosecution submitted that Tapan Singh had rented his house to Ankush and for long had been trying to get the house vacated. But as all talks failed, Tapan with the intention to forcibly get the house evicted, called Ankush to a park in Dadumajra, where he got him assaulted and kidnapped.
Later, the accused reached Ankush’s accommodation, assaulted his sister before throwing her out of the house, which they then demolished. HTC
