Badal allocates portfolios, Sukhbir retains home

Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today kept power, cooperation and vigilance departments, while deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal retained home, along with excise and taxation earlier held by Badal senior in the previous regime.

Parminder Singh Dhindsa was designated the finance minister to take the state out of the severe financial crisis.

BJP's Bhagat Chunni Lal is minister for local bodies and medical education and research; Madan Mohan Mittal has got health and family welfare along with departments of social security and parliamentary affairs.

Anil Joshi is the new minister for industries and commerce and technical education and industrial training, while Jyani will hold the portfolios of forests and labour.

Amongst the new Akali ministers, Ajit Singh Kohar has been made transport minister, besides in charge of legal affairs and elections while Sarwan Singh Phillaur has been given jails and tourism.

Bibi Jagir Kaur has got rural water supply and sanitation, defence services and public grievances, while Sharanjit Singh Dhillon gets PWD.

Sikandar Singh Maluka would be minister for education as well as higher education and languages.

Adesh Partap Singh Kairon continues as food minister, while Gulzar Singh Ranike retains animal husbandry, dairy development and welfare of SC/BC departments.

Bikramjit Singh Majithia has been made revenue minister, along with handling information and public relations, non-conventional energy and NRI affairs.
