Taking a complete u-turn from his earlier stance, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was completely behind Anna Hazare's campaign against corruption and wanted both the Prime Minister and the Judiciary to be under the ambit of the Lokpal Bill.
Talking to the media, Badal clarified that though he was earlier of the view that the office of the Prime Minister should not be brought under Lokpal but after discussing the issue in the party meeting the SAD was of the opinion that Prime Minister should come under the Lokpal.
Badal said that the SAD also wanted the Judiciary to be under the ambit of the Lokpal. This would only make both the Prime Minister and the Judiciary more transparent and accountable to the people.
Badal said that his party completely backed the Jan Lokpal Bill being backed by Anna Hazare and his team as it seemed to be the only answer to check corruption at various places.
