Punjab chief minister and patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Parkash Singh Badal called on former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Andhra Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday evening.

Badal expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Naidu whose indefinite hunger strike against the creation of a separate Telangana state entered the fourth day on Thursday.

According to a press statement, addressing the gathering, Badal reiterated his party's firm stand to oppose the anti-people and anti-poor policies of the Congress-led UPA government tooth and nail. He said the SAD will extend all possible support and cooperation to the TDP against the "arrogance of the Congress".

Badal said the national Congress leadership was bent upon putting the peace, communal harmony and integrity of the country in peril just for the sake of its narrow political ambitions.
