Badal, Kirron attend governor's'At home' ceremony on I-Day

Punjab governor and Chandigarh administrator Shivraj V Patil hosted an 'At Home' function on the occasion of the 68th Independence Day at Punjab Raj Bhawan here on Friday.
The 'At Home' function began as the Punjab Police band played the national anthem. Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal was the first to greet the Punjab governor. Senior defence, civil and police officials of Punjab and Chandigarh administration were present on the occasion. Office-bearers of all political parties greeted the governor on the occasion.
Punjab governor exchanged greetings with the guests. He interacted with the freedom fighters, serving and retired army officers on the special day.
The governor said the country was proud of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the freedom struggle.
Acting chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court, Ashutosh Mohunta; justice Hemant Gupta; justice SS Saron; Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker, Charanjit Singh Atwal; Punjab cabinet minister, Chunni Lal Bhagat; municipal corporation mayor, Harphool Chander Kalyan; Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher; leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Sunil Jakhar; Gen VP Malik (retd); chief secretary of Punjab, Sarvesh Kausal and Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini also attended the cermony.
From the Chandigarh administration, home secretary Anil Kumar, finance secretary Saravjit Singh, inspector general of police RP Upadhyay and SSP Sukhchain Singh were also present on the occasion.
