Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday hailed the results of the Lok Sabha bypolls in the country, describing them as a "powerful signal for change" at the Centre.
"The results are the first gust of the strong wind blowing throughout the country against the Congress-led UPA government and a signal for a sweeping change in the country's politics after the forthcoming general elections," the chief minister said. "This is just a trailer of the blockbuster ahead. The Congress will be swept aside in the next general elections."
Badal congratulated the opposition parties, especially the BJP and Narendra Modi, on their great showing. "I have always said that we are heading towards the formation of an NDA government at the Centre. These results show that the wind blowing across the country against the Congress-led UPA government is as strong as in the post-emergency period," Badal said in a press statement.
