Terming the ongoing chain hunger strike by the Congress leaders as a 'political stunt', chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said as they have no issue against the state government, the Congress leaders were resorting to such gimmicks.

Badal was present in Udyog Bhawan, where a leader from Delhi unit of SAD-Badal, Avtar Singh Hit assumed charge of chairman, Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC). The chief minister added that the state Congress leaders were politicising the revelations made by a person who has been accused of a heinous crime of drug trafficking.

"Jagdish Bhola, a criminal, could name any person to save his skin but it was unfortunate that the Congress leaders are trying to take political mileage out of it," said Badal while reiterating that the director general of the Punjab Police was personally monitoring the case, so there was no need to hand over the inquiry to CBI.

Replying to a query on the ongoing protest by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Badal said rather than protesting after a spat with an ASI of the Delhi Police, the Delhi government should have concentrated on issues of larger public importance.

Besides other leaders, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK and general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also present on the occasion.
