chandigarh Updated: Jul 17, 2012 20:16 IST

Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal on Monday asked Prime Minister (PM) Manmohan Singh to take up the issue of two dilapidated monuments of erstwhile Sikh rulers with Pakistan.

Badal said the Centre should take up the issue with Pakistan for proper upkeep and conservation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's ancestral Haveli at Gujaranwala and Baradri of Maharaja Sher Singh at Lahore.

Citing religious sentiments of the people Badal said that Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh empire and it was the duty of the Centre to raise the issue.
