The chief minister appealed to the people to celebrate Diwali with traditional fervour and gaiety, rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion, thereby cementing the bonds of harmony, amity and goodwill.
He also greeted the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Day being celebrated all over the state on Wednesday, to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma.
Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has also greeted people on Diwali and Vishwakarma Day.
Sukhbir also extended felicitations on the eve of Bandi Chhod Diwas to mark return of the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind, along with 52 other kings from the Mughal detention at Gwalior Fort in 1619.
