Additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to city-based lawyer Arvind Thakur, who was accused of rape by a 23-year-old woman.

Thakur was asked to appear on December 16 as accused by a local court on the complaint of a 23-year-old resident of Nariangarh, who had accused him of rape and criminal intimidation.

Pressing for bail, advocate Terminder Singh, who represented Thakur, denied any kind of intimacy between the two.

“There was no relationship between Thakur and the woman,” said advocate Terminder, terming all allegations baseless.

The victim, in her complaint, had claimed that she had engaged him as a lawyer when she had entered into a dispute with her husband in 2012. She had even said that the accused had married her and had exploited her for nearly two years.
